« Stockartist I – Plug-in » is a contemporary art exhibition, which will take place in galerie OPEN, Berlin from 12th October to 11th November 2007.
Stockartist is a conceptual, interactive and participative new business model for the contemporary fine art market. This project combines characteristic artworks, the world wide web and institutions to present contemporary art to a larger audience. Its aim is to change the perception and the sales of art.
galerie OPEN – located in Kreuzberg, Berlin – will be the host of the first exhibition of the Stockartist art project, which was initiated by the artist DHAdmann. “Stockartist – Plug-in” will display artworks of 14 artists from 7 different countries – each peace has been created especially for this show.
Stockartist – as a new business model for dealing with art consists of different economical theories: communism, socialism, capitalism and alternative economic thesis like parecon. Stockartist considers the Internet as the most decisive element in the future development of the art market – that is why it is hybrid, which means on- and offline.

Within this project the artist’s role is similar to the one of a company in the StockExchange Market. In order to be part of Stockartist, the artist has to create an artwork in form of a pool of shares, called “artstocks”. This artwork consisting of a minimum of one houndred pieces represents him in the Stockartist environment. “Artstocks” are objects created by an artist with specific physical
characteristics like: size, weight and price.

Stockartist’s intention is to establish new paradigms in the actual artmarket, separating the commoditization and ethereal parts of the arts. It is an invitation to question the importance of the institutional world in the meaning of the art and also to find alternative ways to make art available to a bigger audience.

Participating artists:
Angel Santiago Plata, Antonio Fernandez, Armando Angeles, Iraida Lombardia, Joel Cardoso, Kathrin Bauer, Luisa Posada, Miguel Avila, Myritza Castillo, Nicoletta Papamichael, Salome Rodriguez, DHAdmann
